The Falcon Eye! 4/28/23

Monday 5/1 is an Early Release Day

Comic Relief for Parents and Caregivers

Families - we're ALMOST at kick-off day (May 3rd) for the 2023 KCC Dance Off Fundraiser.

Families should have received information via flyers, email, and the PTO FB page, with directions on how to register and boost their sponsorships requests.

Log in/sign up on MYBOOSTER.COM to register. You can do this by searching for the school by name. Students get a FREE prize just for being registered. On the site, families can access easy-to-use links and content to connect students with sponsors by sharing their fundraising link on Facebook, through email, or even text. Sponsors can enter and pay for those donations online through the students’ fundraising link!

As a reminder, our goal is $20,000. Together, we can MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!
For families that are new to our one big annual fundraiser, the PTO has provided the following background to ensure everyone is in the know! If anyone has questions or would like to participate in making this fundraising event a success, please email kccptopresident@gmail.com

WHAT: The KCC Falcons Dance Off is a 10-day fundraising program. This large-scale fundraising provides enrichment programs (Field Trips; guest speakers and presentations); extra classroom supplies, books, and a number of community events for our students, families, and more!
WHEN: The fundraiser kicks off on 5/3 and culminates in an actual Dance Off at the school on 5/12. Each classroom is scheduled to dance on the field for the dedicated number of minutes each class has raised funds. The average student completes 30-35 minutes. The schedule of when students will be "dancing" will be shared ahead of time and families are welcome to come watch, participate and cheer on!
WHO: Booster is an online school fundraising platform and partner that helps our school to raise funds. It provides an easy-to-use platform for tracking donations etc. Booster also provides educational content that teachers share each day of the fundraising period to generate excitement. This year's theme is Grandland Adventure. You can check out more about that here.

Mashpee Marathon Program at KCC
Congratulations to Ryan F. for being the first student to complete a full Marathon - 26.2 miles! Collectively, our Second graders in the Mashpee Marathon Program have completed 1327 miles! More information will be coming soon about our final mile on May 18th.

KCC Visits the Mashpee Firehouse

Students in K, 1 and 2 walked to the Firehouse this week to learn from Firefighter Lenny and the Mashpee Fire Department. Students toured the station and learned crucial information. The two messages to drive home are in case of a fire to "get out and stay out" and never try to hide from a firefighter in an emergency. The firefighters put on their entire suites to show students how they will sound and look so they know not to be scared in an emergency. Our PreK students will be visiting in the coming weeks. Thank you Firefighter Lenny and MFD!

Compare and Contrast
Construction Company
Second graders in Ms. Shea, Ms. McMorrow and Ms. Matton's classes went to work on comparing and contrasting stories. Students took out their toolboxes to build their academic skills. Students read stories to each other then worked together in their construction sites. Officer Cogswell stopped by to do a "construction detail" to support our students.

1st Grade and PreK Reading Buddies!

Spring is in the Air at KCC
Gabby was jetting around the school on the half day, enjoying the sunshine last week.  She approves of the sunshine!

Toys at School
Recently there has been an influx of toys, footballs and other items to school. At recess and other parts of the day, KCC has plenty of items for recess, indoor recess and other times of the day. If your child brings items to play with before/after school or on the bus, please remind them these items must stay in their backpacks during school.
Thank you parents and guardians for your cooperation.

Robots!
Ms. Fox's 2nd grade class recently had a robot themed learning day, and the student’s excitement during that day inspired a family engagement project.
