American Heart Association’s Kid Challenge!!

It’s time for the American Heart Association’s Kid Heart Challenge at KCC! This challenge will run from 1/31 - 2/18. This is a voluntary fundraiser for the American Heart Association. We will be learning ways to keep our hearts and brains healthy in Physical Education class. Students can earn fun thank-you gifts and earn Physical Education equipment for our school. Student's will receive their pledge envelopes this week during their PE class. Thank you in advance for your support of this worthwhile program!

MPS WELLLNESS POLICY

Classroom celebrations are important and we love to make students feel special, especially on their birthdays. As part of our MPS Wellness policy we ask the following: If food is to be brought to school for students, "Parents will provide healthy snacks for their children. Baked goods such as cakes, cookies, brownies and cupcakes are not considered healthy choices for celebrations in the classroom.  Some of the suggestions of healthy snacks could be: fruit cups, vegetables and dip, 100% fruit popsicles, yogurt and pretzels."

100th Day of School!
The 100th day of school is February 14th! We are asking families to create a visual display of 100 things. These displays could be on poster board (cheerios, spaghetti, paint dots, candy, etc.) or created (Legos, blocks, paper clip chain, etc.). The display must be stuck together and not require reassembly at school.
The number 100 is very important when establishing solid number sense in early childhood. This project will help your child learn how to represent and recognize relationships among numbers while gaining an understanding of the magnitude of 100!
Please send this project in no later than Thursday, Feb 10th for your child to present to his/her class. Your child will also have the opportunity to display their work in the hallways for the whole school to see.  Have Fun!

Free as a Bird...

How and why is it birds can fly

What do they see, when they're up in the sky

So high, up above, and playing amongst clouds

Floating and soaring without any crowds

Finding the wind, to be their best friend

Having no fear of falling, never finding the end

Being free in the sky is a wonderful sensation

I can only see and feel it, in my mind's imagination

I imagine myself with a beautiful pair of wings

Finding solitude and beauty as only flying can bring...
