Dear KCC Drivers,
We do not allow drivers to be on cell phones when they come to drop their children off or pick them up. As soon as you enter the road to KC Coombs, please put your cell phone away. We have been asking drivers to do this, but not everyone is cooperating. Today (9/12/22) we had a mom back up, hit one of our staff (she was not injured), and drive away, not even knowing she did that. She was on the phone. We had another incident today where someone bumped into the car in front of him - he was also on the phone. Now imagine that it was a small child that got hit or was crossing in front of the car when the person didn’t stop ALL BECAUSE OF A CELL PHONE. Put them away please! Our School Resource Officer will be assisting with this directive. Let’s keep KCC safe. Thank you.
- What to do if you are late to school?
- Cars that are pulling into KCC at 9:05 AM will be directed to the front of the building to park and walk their child to the front door. They will be greeted at the front door by an admin. assistant who marks them tardy. When driving to the front of the building, do not enter the bus loop. Cars must park in the spots and walk their child to the front door.
If your child is to be dismissed early from school, the student must bring a dated note from you that includes : the child’s full-name, teacher’s name, time and reason for dismissal. This note should be presented to the classroom teacher at the start of the school day. Notes are required for both early dismissals and for students not riding the bus on a given day. Do not go directly to the classroom; your child will be dismissed directly to you or your designee from the main office. Note: A dismissal prior to 12:30 PM will be recorded as an absence.
If parents/guardians have forgotten to write a note, they are asked to phone the school at least 60 minutes before dismissal to allow office personnel the time to relay the message to the classroom. The bus loop closes for dismissal at 3:15 PM. Dismissals after 3:15PM will be through parent pick up.
How It Works:
Schools identify the need and inform Cape Kid Meals the number of children
Schools obtain consent from the parents/guardians
Shelf stable food is purchase at both The Greater Boston Food Bank and BJ’s
The food is packed weekly at one of the five packing centers across the Cape
Bags are delivered each Friday to participating schools
The food bags are discreetly place into the child’s backpack by school personnel before dismissal
The entire program is confidential only the schools know who is participating
What’s in the Food Bag:
The food bag intends to replace the breakfast and lunch the children receive Monday through Friday at school along with healthy snacks. The bag includes 2 breakfast, 2 lunches, milk, juice, 6 healthy snacks and 2 pieces of fresh fruit. All items are shelf-stable and easy to open and prepare regardless of the child’s living situation.Picture Day Date: Thursday, September 29
