Message from KCC Nurse

Happy New Year! I wanted to share the following  health office updates and reminders:

Outdoor recess is held daily throughout the winter months as the temperature and weather allow. Please make sure your child wears appropriate outdoor wear- hat, gloves, coat, and boots. Also, students are reminded to bring or wear sneakers for physical education class. A change of clothes is also very helpful.

As referenced in the parent/student handbook, hearing, vision, height and weight screenings are done annually per MA Department of Public Health guidelines and referrals are made as necessary. Please be sure to follow up with your child’s physician if you have received a phone call or letter notifying you that your child did not pass any of the screenings and provide any health updates to the health office.

Please inform the main office, in writing or via email at kccattendance@mpspk12.org, if you have a new emergency contact phone number, home, cell, or work number, email address or mailing address.

Emails should be made to kccattendance@mpspk12.org by 9:05 a.m. each time your child is absent or will be tardy and followed up with a written note with the reason upon return. Please feel free to send emails ahead of time if you are aware of a pending absence or tardy. If your child is seen by medical or dental providers please obtain and send in or email a medical or dental note upon your child’s return.

It is school protocol to keep your child home until they are fever free, GI illness symptom free and have not taken any fever reducing medications during the prior 24 hours and eating and drinking normally. Please also continue to do daily head checks year round.

If you would like additional information or have any questions regarding the above information, please  email me at: sschakel@mpspk12.org

KCC Welcomes QS

Mrs. O’Brien’s class got into the holiday spirit with a reader’s theater presentation by Mrs. Lepore’s 4th grade class! They practiced so hard to put on a great show and had a wonderful audience! What a great example for our younger students, following the Falcon 5 and displaying such confidence. Thank you so much 4th grade friends, we look forward to another visit!
