Hooked on Books with Ms. Smith!
Mrs. Smith’s Hooked on Books after school club celebrated the last session with a Lunar New Year Party! Students had fun hunting for red envelopes stuffed with pearls, just like in the book they read, The Year of Billy Miller! After listening to the story, The Night Before Lunar New Year, they completed pictures and played games in their new activity books and posed for green screen photos. It was a great way to make a connection with the book and celebrate our last session together. Students left smiling with their bag full of treats including their own copy of How to Catch a Dragon, and, of course, fortune cookies!
KCC Dance Club Recital
Students in the after-school club danced their hearts out and performed in front of family and friends.
KCC Library News from
Ms. Smith!
Over the past two weeks, we kicked off our Falcon Book Buddies Program with the help of Nurse Stacey and Cassie! I modeled reading to Cassie so students are ready to jump in and practice reading to the Library stuffies in class next week! Some classes have already started reading to stuffies after choosing their book. They are doing a super job reading the book in our cozy reading area, and showing the pictures to their stuffed friends! Each week is a practice session for the big day…when each student in Grade 1 takes home their own stuffed dog to love and read to (and keep!). Please help your child take responsibility for returning their book to Library class every week! Those who check out a new book are now browsing a special shelf filled with a variety of beginning reader books! Thank you for your support!
