The Falcon Eye! 8/30/24

There is no school Friday 8/30 and Monday, 9/3. We hope you have a restful Labor Day.

The First Days of School!
Students and staff were so excited to see everyone back at school! Thank you to the KCCS staff and DPW for their outstanding work with preparing the school for Masphee's youngest Falcons! Thank you to The Mashpee Enterprise for covering our first day of school at KCCS! Click here to read!

AM and PM Procedures
Thank you for your patience while dropping off and picking up students from KCCS. As a friendly reminder, PreK (4y/o program) pick up is at 2:45 PM on the side of the building. Cars that are picking up K, 1, or 2 students at 3:35 PM cannot join the pick up line until 3:00 PM. Ms. Trombly's preschool (3y/o program) pick up is in the front of the building. Getting to the line early for the pick up will slow down the process and for school safety reasons, parents/guardians should not be waiting in the parking lot for the line to form.

At KCCS, we use Pick Up Patrol for all changes and updates to student
dismissal plans.

Stay connected and get involved!
Being involved with your child's school and educational journey will pay dividends. Your participation in school models the importance of education to your child.  PTO is a great way to get involved. Another way to share your voice in the school is through the KCCS School Council.  I am currently seeking parents who would like to serve on the KCCS School Council.  The purpose of the school council is to bring a parent/guardian perspective to our school improvement plan, discuss budget planning, review family survey results, develop action plans based on school-wide data, and plan for new initiatives, for example. Parent responsibilities include participation in only one meeting per month during the school year. Typically the meeting is scheduled for one hour from 4:00-5:00 PM - the day of the week is to be determine based on the groups needs. The School Council members include the building principal, two teachers, three parent representatives, and a community representative. If you are interested in participating or have any questions please email Principal O'Brien at mobrien@mpspk12.org or call 508-5301520 X5105. I look forward to hearing from you. Mrs. O'Brien

KCCS PTO News!
The PTO kicked off the 2024-2025 school year with a special breakfast for our incredible teachers and staff! We know it isn’t Teacher Appreciation Week yet, but our faculty members deserve to be appreciated EVERY DAY! They do so much for our students; they love them, lift them up, guide them, inspire them, believe in them, and overall just pour their hearts and souls into helping them grow and flourish into their very best selves. We feel it is VITAL to help SUPPORT our support staff by pouring into their cups. We spoiled them with generous donations of bagels from Bagel Haven, donuts from Dukes Donut Works, and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee gifted by a student’s grandparent. A HUGE thank you to our Mashpee local businesses for showing our KCCS staff some love on their first day back! We Are Mashpee!!
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend. Tuesday September 3rd is our first day back after the holiday, and it is also our first PTO meeting! We will be meeting in the KCCS Cafeteria at 5:30 pm to discuss the calendar for this school year and the upcoming Welcome Back BBQ. Childcare will be provided, and we would love to see you all there!
*Something new we are trying this year with the PTO meetings is offering them in person AND online. Every other month will be an online meeting, in the hopes that more families can join in. More information to come.

Bus Transportation

Please be on the lookout for bus information in the mail. In these envelopes you'll find a bus tag with your child's information on it. Please attach this tag to the outside of your child's backpack like JiJi. Attach the tag whether your child rides the bus or not. This will help staff identify students when they arrive at school.  Please make sure to complete the blue form and return it with your child on their first day. Bus routes will be coming out soon! Each grade level was given a different color bus tag: Kindergarten is yellow1st grade is blue and 2nd grade is red. If your child is attending preschool or PreK, transportation tags will be given out at orientation.

*** Afternoon Bus Drop Off Parent Responsibilities***
Parents/guardians of KCCS students must be present at the bus stop unless a sibling that is in 6th grade or higher or an approved adult can receive a student. If nobody is there, your KCCS student will be brought back to school where you will need to pick them up.

KCCS AM/PM Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
The morning and afternoon drop off/pick up procedures are extremely important to follow. The safety of our students, staff and families is of utmost importance. When entering KCC, please drive slowly and be attentive to the road. Please stay off your cell phone. There will be a staff member (usually Mr. Prehna) directing traffic. Follow all directions from him as this will allow traffic to move smoothly. When dropping students off either at the front of the school or at the side, parents/guardians must follow all staff directions. Many families will be dropping off so your patience in this process is crucial and being efficient will make things move smoothly. This process is for all students being dropped off by parents/guardians at KCCS. At no point may vehicles pass other vehicles while approaching the building or when leaving. Please review the following maps and information.
CLICK HERE FOR MAPS and PROCEDURES. (click through all the slides.)

Please note! Families who are picking up their children who are in Grades K, 1, or 2, please do not arrive before 3:15 PM. Pre-K dismissal is at 2:45 PM this school year, and we will need to allow Pre-K families time to load their children and exit in a timely manner.
