The Falcon Eye! 10/18/24

KCCS at School Committee
On Wednesday, 10/16 KCCS shared their work to support social emotional learning and how we build community which combats bullying. Students Rhylie H, Jacob R. Kaua, Olivia, Julia, Evelyn, Malachaie, Nakoa, Otis and Arthur shared specific stories about how they earn Falcon Eggs, school celebrations and recited the Falcon Pledge. Mrs. O'Brien shared the important work of data collection and how KCCS acts on the data to create a positive school culture as well as teach skills to Mashpee's youngest Falcons. We deeply appreciate the support from our KCCS families and their work with us to build Mashpee's foundation.

Handwriting Without Tears
Learning the mechanics of writing is crucial so students learn good habits for letter formation. KCCS is implementing the curriculum, Handwriting Without Tears in grades PreK - 2. The curriculum is designed to focus on body posture, grip strength and letter orientation. Here is Ms. Schreiner's 1st grade class learning how to pick up their pencils and learning the importance of pencil grip.

Math Curriculum at KCCS!
At KCCS, we use Reveal Math as our primary curriculum to build students' math skills. This is our second year of implementation of the program. Here at KCCS, we have a positive and strong math culture. The video linked below from Math Coach Souza will show you how your family can access Reveal from home. Click here for the video.

ST Math
KCCS is solving puzzles with JiJi again this year! ST Math Super Stars earn a monthly Math Game incentive each month in the gym with Math Coach Ms. Souza. JiJi often stops by to say hello! Keep up the great work solving puzzles! if you have questions about Reveal Math or ST Math, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Local Artist Visits KCCS!

Jim Freeheart came to present to first grade students about painting, drawing, and fixing mistakes in our artwork. He is a local artist out of Cotuit who is seen all around town set up with his easel painting beach scenes, portraits, and landscapes. First grade students loved to ask him questions about his work and how he became an artist. Thank you to Mr. Freeheart for volunteering his time to inspire our young artists here at KCCS!
