KCC Collaborative STEM Lesson with
Quashnet Fourth Grade
On Thursday, November 30th, a Quashnet fourth grade class visited KCC to do a collaborative lesson with Mrs. Richmond’s kindergarten students during their STEM class. Students listened to the story “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” written by William Kamkwamba and Brian Mealer. Then students tested two different windmill designs, one designed by the kindergarten students and one designed by the fourth grade students, to see which design could best lift a basket of marbles when wind force was applied. We are pleased to announce that kindergarten won this challenge! Many kindergarten students had family members in this fourth grade class, and they were very excited to be buddies! Thank you Mrs. Whiddon and fourth graders for sharing your time with us! ST Math Super Stars!
The month of November was a great month for math at KCC! There were 40 Super Stars this month which is determined by students' hard work on their ST Math program. This month, students met with JiJi and Math Coach Ms. Souza to play math focused games in the gym. Students also picked from JiJi's prize box! Students are solving problems daily on ST Math at school. PreK Recess Fun!
